The biggest issue (beside being below sea level) is this house in a typical residential area??

You will be sticking out like a soar thumb when every other home is cold and dark and people can still smell bacon and eggs cooking......


Depending on the location you may get over run.

Hmm Blaine is a great location IMO - right next to the CAN border and a tiny little town. It is a very hippy area.

Look at your sump pump specs and you will see they specify how many gallons per minute for a lift of 5 or 10 feet. Standard basement use.

Lifting the water 45 feet up, they aren't going to do very well. You are going to use a lot of amps from the generator to run all 4 of them.

Wouldn't it have been much better to dig it in a hillside above sea level?

Then you could use a gravity drain to get the groundwater out.

That's real secure now that MILLIONS of people have seen it, the layout in detail, and know the exact location!

Pose as a potential buyer. Then you know exactly where it is and the layout. It has lost its biggest advantage now, that of secrecy.

I imagine that there are a lot of these homes out there that have secret and elaborate underground shelters. This my friends is not one of them.

Houses like that you have to 'keep in the family" or you have to really prescreen your prospect very well ask them how they feel about having a LARGE BASEMENT.

This was listed for sale a few years ago, somewhere around $425K I think (?) Must be something wrong if they're looking to sell it at this time. Any true survivalist (who bought this place initially) would be stocking preps - not selling to the highest bidder

I remember back in the early 90's I think, a story about a couple who bought an old missile silo firing control center at auction. I believe it was the underground fortress that the officers reside in to fire off the ICBM's. Anyway, they got this thing at auction for like a hundred grand! They said there was more money spent on concrete by the Govt. to build it, than the people paid for the whole thing! Constant year round temperature, 3 to 5 foot thick walls or thicker. It was a real GIMers dream! Of course, the location sucked at the time, out in the middle of the plains somewhere. But perfect now for WTSHTF. I'm sure it could be sold for millions now!

only bad thing is if you live in one you better hope that either A. we dont go to war with someone like Russia and B. the Russians have found out and updated their target list to remove decommissioned silos like yours :)
